Appearance Business Casual.
Treat the process similar to a job interview.
If you are flying under Basic Med, bring a copy of your Class 3 Medical certificate, even if expired.
It’s OK if you have to reschedule. I had to reschedule three times due to weather.
Know each maneuver, take off and landing variations, and emergency procedures.
Be able to explain your cross country flight using the Nav Log and Sectional Chart.
Use the Airman Certification Standards (ACS) book as a primary study guide. Be familiar with EACH ACS for Airplane Single Engine Land (ASEL).
Oral and flying portion 1.5 to 2 hrs each.
If you don’t know an answer, offer to look it up.
For the flying portion, practice the maneuvers / procedures that Rob gave us on the handouts.
You don’t have to be perfect. I had unexpected significant winds on my Checkride. The variable winds and wind gusts were a big challenge and the DPE took that into consideration. Tell the DPE what you are thinking during the flying portion.
I flew down to York Airport (KTHV) for my Checkride. You might be asked to go to Capital City Airport (CXY).
Overall very straight forward. There were no surprises.
